Haus

Haus – aka “Hausiago”, “Hausey”, “Haus-sus Colossus”, was a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon and Black Lab cross. Haus was adopted alongside his sister Adaline when they were 8-weeks old, forever becoming everyone’s favorite brother and sister duo. Haus’s larger than life personality (and tail) kept him young as he tried to befriend all animals big and small. His favorite activities included swimming, parading around his favorite toys, sunbathing, snuggling, generating a musical beat with his tail on surfaces, and most importantly eating.

Our boy Haus was officially diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in June of 2025 at the young age of nine. For those who knew Haus and his magnetic energy, this news was incredibly overwhelming and devastating. Despite his cancer diagnosis, Haus maintained a positive attitude towards life.

Haus underwent chemotherapy at the Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where he received wonderful care and support from his fantastic oncology team. Haus made his larger-than-life personality known at the VTH during his weekly visits, becoming a beloved patient by many. Every week, Haus trotted into the VTH with a big smile and constant tail wag as he greeted the front desk staff, students, and clients. Haus knew where all the treat jars were kept and made it his duty to conduct multiple “quality control” taste tests before and after his appointment.

Haus initially started on the CHOP protocol and responded well for the first several rounds, achieving remission status. Unfortunately, prior to starting his last round of CHOP, Haus came out of remission due to the aggressive nature of T-cell lymphoma. This was heart breaking news as Haus continued to behave as nothing was wrong. During these dark hours, Haus’s parents were faced with the additional financial strain associated with expensive rescue chemotherapy protocols. Toby’s Hope generously stepped in to provide financial assistance to give Haus a treatment that would ultimately give him more time with his family. After receiving his rescue treatment, Haus was able to spend quality time with his family over the holidays – traveling from Pullman to Seattle to make memories with his favorite people and most importantly swim at his favorite beach.

A true bird dog through and through, Haus was able to spend his afternoon swimming on a picturesque November day in the Puget Sound with calm, clear waters, warm sunshine, and bright blue skies with his sister Adaline and his doggo friend Theo.

Haus fought bravely to the very end and passed away on January 29, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones in his home. He will be forever missed.

We are extremely grateful for the support of Toby’s Hope and for every extra snuggle, laugh, walk, and moment we received because of them with our boy Haus.
