Dixie
From Katie, Dixie's Mom: My name is Katie, and my 6-year-old dog, Dixie, is my absolute anchor. She was originally a gift for a beloved relative who passed away, and when I took her in four years ago, we began a journey neither of us could have predicted. Together, we navigated life across Washington, Oregon, and California, facing periods of homelessness and uncertainty. Through every cold night and long mile, Dixie was the one thing that kept me going—she truly saved my life. Two years ago, we finally found stability and a place to call home. But just as we started to catch our breath, our world was shattered. During her bath, I found a lump, and a trip to the vet confirmed my worst fear: Dixie has lymphoma. I am currently dealing with the severe pain of fibromyalgia and waiting for my disability benefits to begin, so I was completely unable to afford the life-saving treatment she needed. That is when Toby's Hope stepped in and gave us a true miracle. Thanks to their incredible generosity, Dixie was able to start her vital chemotherapy treatments. I am so deeply grateful to share that after her treatments, her cancer is now officially in remission and she is continuing her care. Toby's Hope didn't just fund her medical bills; they saved my family and gave us the chance to stay together in the home we fought so hard to find and gave Dixie a chance to live her best life.
