Chief
Chief (aka Chiefy) is a 7-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer and English Lab mix who has been deeply loved from the very beginning. His family met him when he was just 4 weeks old, and from that moment on, they were completely hooked. His mom counted down the days until he could come home at 8 weeks—and even took a little “pupternity leave” to soak up every second of those early days together.
He quickly grew into a much bigger boy than anyone expected, but somehow still thinks he’s a lap dog. Chief lives for cuddles, kisses, and being close to his people. Despite having human siblings who absolutely adore him, Chief remains mostly indifferent—though he soaks up all the love anyway. He definitely embodies the older sibling attitude about them.
More than anything, Chief is his dad’s best friend—the kind of dog who just knows when he’s needed. He’s been the best support dog they could have ever asked for, steady, comforting, and always right there.
Recently, what was supposed to be a routine annual vet visit turned into something no family is ever prepared for. Instead of vaccines, Chief was given a shocking lymphoma diagnosis. It’s been a heartbreaking shift, especially for a dog who still has so much life, love, and joy in him.
His family has chosen to pursue treatment because 7 years just isn’t enough. His family deserves more time with him, and he deserves more time being the heart of their home.
With the support of Toby’s Hope, some of the financial burden has been eased, and the family is incredibly grateful. Every extra moment with Chief means everything—and they’re holding onto all of them.
